Odesa Fest Cultural Festival in Berlin
On September 10 and 14, the Ukrainian cultural festival Odesa Fest will take place in the German capital, celebrating the historical connections between Odessa and Germany.
A gala concert will be held at Odessa Square in Berlin, which was inaugurated in January 2023. The stage will feature dance troupes and vocalists, including opera and jazz singer Natalia Bitko, a former soloist from the Musical Comedy Theater and the Odessa City Theater.
The art performance “Odessa in Brush and Voice” will combine painting and singing. Odessa artist Svitlana Vol will create live art while a song in Yiddish is performed by the renowned vocalist and vocal instructor Sofia Voloshenko.
Another performance titled “Sand Ceremony” is also scheduled.
A celebration of Odessa cuisine and culture will take place at the Fayna restaurant, featuring a cabaret show “Ok-Ok” presented by true Odessans. Guests will enjoy a collection of vocal, dance, and comedic acts in the finest traditions of clowning and buffoonery.
Nick Rakov, a guitarist from Ukraine, and Beata Falk, a Berlin-based artist, will perform a concert program featuring popular Jewish hits across various musical styles and well-known jazz compositions that capture the musical spirit of Odessa.
The entertainment program will include jokes, gift raffles, a handmade market by Odessa artisans, workshops, a photo zone, as well as games and sweets for children.
The organizer of the Odesa Fest cultural festival is Angelika Soldatenko, a native of Odessa. The event is held under the patronage of the mayor of the Lichtenberg district, Martin Schaefer, and with the support of Berlin parliament member Liliya Usik.
