Empowering Veterans: Business Opportunities in Odessa
A roundtable discussion titled: “Enhancing Business Conditions for Vulnerable Categories: Young War Veterans and IDPs” took place in Odessa. The event featured participants from the veteran community, local authorities, employment centers, and experts from the regional representative office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The main topics of discussion revolved around employment and the development of veteran-owned businesses. It was emphasized that support can come from not only the government but also through local initiatives.
Success stories of projects supporting veterans were shared. Thanks to hackathons and training sessions, over 50 veterans received financial backing and assistance in bringing their business ideas to life. These events were funded by the EU and several NGOs (NGO “Action Time”, NGO “Smart Media”, NGO “Ukrainian Veterans”, and NGO “SOS Ukraine”).
The Odessa region is actively working on creating new support programs, engaging international resources and partners to foster the growth of veteran businesses.
Improving conditions for veterans and IDPs is an investment in Ukraine's future.
