Engaging Forensic Science Session for Gymnasium Students

A recent event at a local gymnasium featured an engaging session led by forensic specialists from the police department, Captain Maxim Pasichny and Lieutenant Julia Socherchak.

The professionals shared with the students the latest methods of evidence collection and analysis, crucial for crime solving. A significant focus was placed on the types of traces left by offenders at crime scenes. The experts demonstrated the contents of their kits and the correct techniques for fingerprinting.

«Everyone had the chance to play the role of a forensic expert and fingerprint a classmate. The students quickly realized that quality evidence collection is vital for solving crimes, so they approached their tasks diligently, as if they were truly working with a criminal and had no room for error», said Captain Maxim Pasichny.

The students were particularly interested in the real-life experiences of the police, leading to discussions about actual cases that highlighted the importance of prompt and effective forensic work in serious investigations. Additionally, a video showcasing the work of a forensic expert in high-profile cases, including post-rocket strike investigations, was presented.

As the session concluded, the law enforcement officers informed the students about the educational pathways available in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for aspiring police officers.

«I believe such meetings help young people make informed career choices, and I would be pleased if some of the students consider joining the National Police of Ukraine afterward», concluded Lieutenant Julia Socherchak.
