Innovative Science Education Program Launches in Odesa
Starting next academic year, Odesa will implement a new program designed to boost students' interest in the sciences. Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and Rector of ONU Viacheslav Truba have signed a memorandum of cooperation, initiated by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council.
According to the memorandum, schools will have the opportunity to enter into individual contracts with the university to bring in educators specializing in physics and other science subjects. The program will include both pre-profile preparation for grades 7-9 and profile education for grades 10-11. There are also plans to organize research activities with students who show talent in relevant fields.
The city council noted that the Institute of Physics possesses the necessary resources, including qualified specialists and well-equipped laboratories, to provide quality education. Conversely, schools are facing a shortage of qualified science teachers, particularly physicists, and this project aims to partially address this staffing issue.
