Ukrainian Universities Shine in the 2026 Global Rankings
The latest global university ranking by Times Higher Education 2026 featured 22 Ukrainian institutions — five more than the previous year. Among them were two universities from Odesa. This information was revealed through the World University Rankings 2026 data.
This year, Ukraine set a record for the number of universities in the Times Higher Education global rankings — 22 institutions secured a spot on the list. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov was placed in the 1501+ category, while Odesa Polytechnic University gained the status of a "ranking participant".
The highest achievement among Ukrainian universities was demonstrated by Sumy State University, which entered the 801–1000 group. Other universities, including those from Odesa, ranked lower, yet their presence indicates a steady development and improvement in the quality of Ukrainian education. Despite the challenging circumstances, universities continue to advance research activities, expand international cooperation, and attract students from various countries.
