New Sculpture Unveiled in the Greek Park of Odessa
The Greek Park in Odessa has officially unveiled its fourth sculpture in the «Garden of Life» series, titled «Time», created by the renowned sculptor Mikhail Reva.
This sculpture depicts a Greek hero holding a shattered amphora, symbolizing the fragility of the universe, the fleeting nature of time, and the importance of what we create.
During the ceremony, Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov emphasized that this park is more than just a space; it represents a philosophy of life developed through collaboration between the Greek diaspora and the talented sculptor.
«The Garden of Life is our symbol: we do not stop, we continue to create, build, and grow, even in the toughest times,» he noted.
Christos Zacharopoulos, the Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in Odessa, remarked that Odessa and Greece are connected by a history that began on these streets, and the Greek Park is about our unity today.
Honorary citizen of Odessa and philanthropist, Panteleimon Bumburas, highlighted that supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a matter of honor for his family, but preserving culture and providing people with a zest for life is equally important.
«Art cannot win wars, but it can heal souls, bring light, and communicate to the world: we love life, we cherish peace, and we strive to create. This message is what we carry forward because Odessa is a city that always inspires,» said the sculpture's creator, Mikhail Reva, at the unveiling.
The first part of the «Garden of Life» exhibition was opened on June 5, 2021, when Mikhail Reva presented a trio of sculptures: «Birth of the Soul», «Paradise Apple Tree», and «Apple of Life». The author envisions a total of 13 sculptures in the Greek Park, each symbolizing a specific parable about birth, spiritual growth, harmony, and the connection between humans and nature.
