Trial of Women Involved in Russian Spy Network in Odesa

In Odesa, a trial has begun against women involved in a spy network who directed fire at military and medical facilities in the city. They provided information on at least 10 such locations. Two of the suspects are in custody, while a third is serving an 8-year sentence.

This was reported by the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.

Law enforcement officials stated that the accused gathered information about the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and important infrastructure in Odesa under the direction of a Russian agent.

"The organizer of the spy network was a 23-year-old local resident. She recruited two of her friends into the criminal activity, who also supported the aggressor's actions. They personally wrote and sent applications to the curator for employment in one of the Russian special services.

Over several months, the trio collected and transmitted text messages, photos, videos, and Google Maps screenshots of the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, recruitment centers, hospitals, and air defense facilities via messenger. The network members managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 targets," the statement read.

For their efforts, the women received $500 and hoped to take managerial positions in the trade management if Odesa was occupied.

The suspects were arrested in June 2024 while collecting information on the location of a military unit. Currently, two women are in custody, and the third is serving an 8-year sentence. Considering her cooperation with the investigation, genuine remorse, and being pregnant, the court assigned her a lighter sentence than what is prescribed by law.
