Ensuring Teen Safety on Railways: A New Initiative

The Juvenile Police of Ukraine, in collaboration with Ukrzaliznytsia, is initiating a new project to prevent dangerous activities among teenagers on railway tracks.

Young individuals, in search of thrills, often climb onto train roofs, cling to moving trains, and cross tracks in prohibited areas.

This is not just risky behavior. It poses a serious threat to their lives: potential injuries, amputations, and electric shocks.

From April 10 to May 10, 2025, a joint preventive campaign by the Juvenile Police of Ukraine and Ukrzaliznytsia will take place.
During this month:

  • we will visit educational institutions
  •
  • engage in open discussions with children
  •
  • along with experts, explain why railways are not a place for games!

What should you do if you witness dangerous behavior by children on the railway?

If you are at a station and see children who:

  • are trying to climb onto a train
  •
  • are already on the roof
  •
  • are playing near the tracks

 Act immediately, but with caution.

Notify the station attendant or any railway staff member.

Call the police (102) or emergency services (101) — professionals will respond quickly.

Advise children who are attempting dangerous activities or are already on the train roof.

Record the event and the individuals involved — this will assist in identification and informing parents.

Stay alert with your children. Talk to them about real risks!
