Agricultural Update: Crop Planting in Ukraine
As of April 11, Ukrainian farmers have planted crops on an area of 1,058.6 thousand hectares of spring cereals and legumes. In the Zaporizhia region, corn planting has begun.
This information is provided by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
According to the ministry’s estimates, the largest area of crops is attributed to barley – 612.2 thousand hectares. Spring wheat has already been sown over 141.1 thousand hectares, peas over 182.8 thousand hectares, oats over 106.1 thousand hectares, and corn over 0.02 thousand hectares.
Leading regions in planting pace:
- Odesa region: 107.2 thousand hectares (wheat – 6.1 thousand hectares, barley – 33.5 thousand hectares, peas – 59.1 thousand hectares, oats – 1.4 thousand hectares);
- Ternopil region: 88.1 thousand hectares (wheat – 14 thousand hectares, barley – 64.1 thousand hectares, peas – 4.1 thousand hectares, oats – 5.3 thousand hectares);
- Poltava region: 86.3 thousand hectares (wheat – 4.5 thousand hectares, barley – 69.1 thousand hectares, peas – 9.6 thousand hectares, oats – 3.1 thousand hectares);
- Khmelnytskyi region: 84.9 thousand hectares (wheat – 10 thousand hectares, barley – 69.8 thousand hectares, peas – 2.6 thousand hectares, oats – 2.5 thousand hectares);
- Mykolaiv region: 75.6 thousand hectares (wheat – 4.5 thousand hectares, barley – 43 thousand hectares, peas – 27.5 thousand hectares, oats – 0.6 thousand hectares).
Additionally, sunflower has been sown on 51.5 thousand hectares, sugar beets on 76 thousand hectares, and soybeans on 4.5 thousand hectares.
