Temporary Ban on Herring Fishing in Odesa Region

To protect fish stocks, a temporary ban on industrial herring fishing is imposed in the Odesa region from April 20 to May 9, 2025. This measure affects specific sections of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester estuary. This information was reported by the «Odesa Fish Protection Patrol».

The restrictions apply to the following areas:

  • from April 20 to April 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the Tulchin mouth branch;
  • from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream from the Tulchin mouth branch;
  • from April 20 to April 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubossary Hydroelectric Station dam;
  • from April 20 to April 24 — Dniester estuary, Turunchuk arm, and main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (mark 28 km).

This ban is established to ensure the preservation of fish populations during the spawning period. The Odesa Fish Protection Patrol will monitor compliance with these restrictions.

Violating these regulations may result in administrative or criminal liability in accordance with current legislation.
