Return of Ukrainian Heroes: Latest Updates
Ukraine has successfully repatriated 909 bodies of its soldiers who lost their lives in combat.
This was announced by the Coordination Headquarters for POW Affairs.
Details on the repatriation of fallen soldiers
The bodies were returned from the following fronts:
- Kurakhiv
- Pokrovsk
- Bakhmut
- Vuhledar
- Luhansk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv.
Additionally, bodies were returned from morgues located in Russia.
The repatriation was facilitated by the Coordination Headquarters, the Ministry of Reintegration, the commissioner for missing persons, the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other agencies.
The bodies will be transported to designated state institutions, where authorities and forensic experts will identify the deceased.
After identification, the remains will be handed over to families for burial.
Previous repatriation efforts - what is known
On March 28, 909 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were repatriated.
On February 14, 757 bodies of soldiers were returned.
On January 24, 757 bodies were repatriated.
On December 20, Ukraine returned 503 bodies of fallen soldiers.
On November 29, 502 bodies of military personnel were repatriated.
On November 8, 563 fallen soldiers' bodies were returned.
On October 18, 501 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers were returned.
On August 2, 250 bodies of fallen soldiers from various fronts were returned, including Luhansk and Bakhmut.
On June 14, 254 bodies of fallen defenders were repatriated to Ukraine, and they will be handed over to families after identification.
