Restoration of Energy Infrastructure in Kherson

Energy specialists from Odessa have successfully restored electrical equipment in Kherson after attacks from Russia in February, bringing light back to nearly 2,000 residents of the city.

This information was disclosed on the official page of DTEK Odessa Electric Networks.

It is reported that 26 workers were involved in restoring the power infrastructure of Kherson, which was damaged due to shelling. The teams arrived in the city in mid-March, working on a rotational basis.

“The frontline was located between 3 to 10 kilometers from the repair site. The energy workers had to work in bulletproof vests and helmets for safety reasons, as the enemy continued shelling Kherson from the left bank of the Dnipro River,” the statement reads.

The specialists managed to connect three high-voltage lines and a substation to supply power primarily to the water utility facilities, as reported by DTEK.

On April 4, 2025, Russian forces hit the Kherson Thermal Power Plant with an FPV drone.

On the morning of April 1, 2025, another energy facility in Kherson was damaged, leaving 45,000 subscribers without electricity due to the Russian attack.

On March 27, Russian troops struck the energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava, violating ceasefire agreements. The Kremlin had previously agreed to cease attacks on energy facilities, but these strikes indicate a breach of that commitment.

President Zelensky stated that Ukraine would respond to such violations and called on the international community to react to Russia's actions.
