Vasyl Lomachenko Announces Retirement from Boxing
Famed boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has declared the end of his boxing career.
He shared this news on his Facebook page.
In his characteristic style, Lomachenko expressed gratitude to God, his father and coach, his family, his team, and even the United States. However, he did not mention Ukraine, Ukrainian fans, or the ongoing war.
It is noteworthy that his announcement regarding retirement was made in Russian.
"Every boxer faces the day when he must hang up his gloves. That day has come," he stated.
Lomachenko's last fight was against George Kambosos, where he won the IBF lightweight title. Since then, he has not entered the ring.
Reports have emerged about his health issues, particularly a back injury.
Recently, there has been much discussion about the possibility of his return to the ring. Several boxers, including Keyshawn Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and even Russian fighter Abdullaev, have shown interest in a potential matchup with Lomachenko.
Lomachenko has often found himself in controversial situations. For instance, he recently met with the metropolitan of the UOC MP and previously invested in a Russian company. He has also expressed dissatisfaction with the metropolitan of the PЦU, Epiphanius.
