Seaside Marathon Odesa: A Review of the Athletic Event
The Seaside Marathon took place in Odesa, attracting nearly 600 participants, including war veterans. Here’s how it unfolded — in our report.
In the morning, athletes gathered near the Sports Palace, lining up for the start around eight o'clock. The marathon kicked off with a race for people with disabilities in wheelchairs.
Among the participants was Alexander, who completed three kilometers around Victory Park. He stated, "Our goal is to show that we are just like everyone else, capable of achieving success despite challenges."
Participants tested their limits on distances of 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km, while veterans marched in a ceremonial procession for 100 meters. Children also participated in shorter races.
Hannah ran five kilometers unprepared and shared her experience: "It was tough running without training, but I made it."
This marathon is held for the second time in Odesa, bringing together participants from various countries this year. All proceeds will support the development of adaptive sports in the region.
The marathon route covered key streets of the city, with traffic restrictions in place during the event.
