Angelika Terliuga Wins Silver at the 2025 World Games
From August 7 to 17, the World Games 2025 are being held in Chengdu, China.
Renowned Odesa athlete Angelika Terliuga competed in the women's kumite category of 55 kg and won a silver medal, reaffirming her position as one of the strongest karate practitioners in the world.
This was her second competition after giving birth, and in the semifinals, she faced Chinese athlete Yuchun Wei.
The initial score was 1:9 in favor of the Chinese competitor, but after a protest regarding the match results, it was revised to 4:3 in Terliuga's favor.
Thus, she advanced to the finals, where she competed against German athlete Mia Bitsch. Unfortunately, the final ended in a 3-1 loss, and Angelika took home the silver medal.
Her coach is Volodymyr Zaretsky, a distinguished coach of Ukraine and her husband.
