Cabinet Expands Digital Ministry's Authority in Tech Sectors
On April 4th, the Cabinet of Ministers made a significant decision to broaden the powers of the Ministry of Digital Transformation in areas such as cutting-edge technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor technology.
This announcement was made by government representative Taras Melnychuk during a session of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the new regulations, the Digital Ministry will:
promote the development of the robotics sector, semiconductor technologies, and domestic production of unmanned systems, crucial for national defense;
define priority development areas and establish regulatory frameworks;
organize financial support for companies engaged in the development and production of innovative technologies;
coordinate testing and research of samples;
create infrastructure for testing and demonstrating robotic systems;
foster the growth of artificial intelligence in Ukraine, among other tasks.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet has recently transferred the regulation of gambling activities from the Gambling Business Commission (KRAIL) to the Digital Ministry.
