Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov is a prominent figure, an engineer, and a celebrated mountaineer. A pass in the Eastern Pamirs and a peak at the confluence of the Garmo and Vavilov glaciers bear his name. Besides mountaineering, a significant part of Bleschunov's life was devoted to collecting art objects.

At the end of his life, he gifted his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was opened in Odessa, and since 1992, it has been known as the Odessa Municipal Museum of Personal Collections named after O.V. Bleschunov.

This unique collection, which consists of over 10,000 items, including world-class rarities, is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. In recognition of Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov's contributions to the city, a star was ceremoniously unveiled in his honor on the Alley of Stars in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
