New Exhibition by Gennady Kim: Art Therapy and Color Reflections

“Reflections of the Unseen,” art therapy, and spring awakening: a new exhibition by Gennady Kim will open at the Odessa Museum.

Visitors to the exhibition titled “Reflections of the Unseen” will encounter new works created by artist, theologian, and educator Gennady Kim over the past two years. During this time, the artist has also developed a unique art therapy program, hosting creative meetings where participants can explore their emotional states through color.

Gennady Kim employs the technique of pointillism, which allows him to achieve stunning color effects that traditional methods cannot replicate. This creates a unique bond between the artist and the viewer.

Maria Apryatova, the curator of exhibitions at the Bleschunov Museum, highlights Kim's mastery: “The artist conveys the subtlest nuances of color relationships, which can only be observed in nature, and captures even the shades of sacred space, making Kim a guide into the mysterious unseen world.”

In his new compositions, the artist uses acrylic paint for the first time, resulting in more vibrant works. Kim’s primary goal in his painting is to convey the unseen world through visible means of visual art.

“This approach allows us to feel thoughts and ideas through color and composition. A painting becomes a reflection of the unknown—a manifestation through visible images of what is difficult to articulate in words. These principles form the foundation of art therapy, which aids in addressing spiritual and emotional issues of our inner world,” states Gennady Kim.

The exhibition will be held at the Odessa Museum of Personal Collections named after O.V. Bleschunov from March 20 to April 15, 2025.

Visiting hours: Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
