Creative Meeting with Writer Vitaliy Zapeka in Odesa

On June 7 at 15:00, the Odesa Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M. S. Hrushevsky (cultural activities department, 1st floor) will host a creative meeting with writer Vitaliy Zapeka as part of the XXV All-Ukrainian Exhibition Forum «Ukrainian Book in Odeshchyna».

Vitaliy Zapeka, born in 1967 in Poltava, is a volunteer and participant in the Russo-Ukrainian war with the call sign «Spielberg».

From 2015 to 2018, he served in ATO, and from the first days of the full-scale invasion, he has been back in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He is the commander of an RPG unit and sustained injuries in early 2024. Before the war, he worked as a photographer, but after his experiences, he felt compelled to share his story and that of his comrades, as well as everything that happened to them. He began writing in Ukrainian at the age of 50.

He is the author of poignant works about the Russo-Ukrainian war, characterized by subtle psychology, irony, humor, and deep philosophical reflections.

A laureate of the International Literary Award «Warrior of Light» and literary awards named after Yakov Halchevsky, Iryna Vilde, and Vsevolod Nestayko. Currently, Vitaliy Zapeka is the author

of eight books, including «Tsukyk» (2019), «Heroes, Hoorays, and Not So Much» (2020), «Absurd» (2021), «Polinka» (2022), «Bang on the Head» (2022).

A year ago at the forum «Ukrainian Book in Odeshchyna», Vitaliy Zapeka presented his book «Sausage Thief in Paradise». This time, at the creative meeting, we will learn a lot of interesting facts about the author and his creative work, including his new book «Tomorrow Again Today», which will be published in 2025.
