Hennadii Trukhanov received the "Person of the Year 2024" award
The awards ceremony for the 'Person of the Year 2024' took place in the capital of Ukraine, honoring remarkable achievements of citizens across various fields. The event was hosted by popular Ukrainian television personalities Kateryna Osadcha and Yuriy Horbunov.
The 'Mayor of the Year' nomination highlights the efforts of city leaders who have made substantial contributions to their communities through infrastructure improvements and enhancing residents' quality of life.
The award was presented to Hennadiy Trukhanov by former MP and Mariupol mayor Mykhailo Pozhivanov, who emphasized the significance of this recognition for the best mayor in Ukraine.
«Odessa is a city that supports the military and accommodates nearly 100,000 displaced persons. We face every challenge with dignity,» noted Pozhivanov.
Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed gratitude for the award, which symbolizes trust:
«This recognition is a testament to our resilient Odessa. An Odessa that cares for everyone: the displaced, the military, and those in need of warmth and support. Our team works daily to improve lives: we assist the Armed Forces, create rehabilitation centers, and launch new initiatives like the Barrier-Free Council, developed with veterans,» he emphasized.
During his speech, the mayor of Odessa thanked the military and extended an invitation for them to recuperate in Odessa. He also shared his deepest pain:
«It is hard to bury comrades. But I will say this directly: the hardest part is burying children that we pull from the rubble. This is unforgivable. Every murderer will face justice, earthly and heavenly,» stated Trukhanov, stressing that victory will surely be Ukraine's.
«Odessa is strong. Odessa is alive. And we will stand firm - for those who are with us and for those we have lost,» concluded Hennadiy Trukhanov.
