New Steps Towards Accessibility in Odesa

Today, June 5, an online meeting was held in Odesa chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister for Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba, along with Deputy Minister Natalia Kozlovska.

The meeting included representatives from the Odesa City Council, such as First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Filatov, the Mayor's advisor on accessibility issues Oleksii Morozov, and heads of executive bodies and relevant departments.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed the implementation of the project «Movement Without Barriers» and the progress of works on the inclusive tram route «North-South».

Participants focused on the technical aspects of route implementation, including marking specific sections of the route and the action plan.

Currently, Odesa is actively marking the inclusive tram route «North-South». Recently, representatives from the project in Kyiv visited the city to familiarize themselves with the route plan. Following the inspection, an action plan for implementation was approved.

The «Movement Without Barriers» project is part of the National Strategy for Creating an Accessible Space in Ukraine, which Odesa is actively participating in.

The initiative for the inclusive tram route «North-South» was proposed by the Odesa City Council, approved by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, and fully aligns with the goals and principles of the National Strategy.

The coordination of project implementation at the local level is carried out by the Odesa Council for Accessibility.
