New Horizons: Outcomes of the Accessibility Council

An important meeting of the Accessibility Council took place under the mayor of Odessa.

Veterans, representatives from various NGOs, experts, and city department heads, as well as ambassadors of the "Barrier-Free Movement" project, participated in the event.

During the meeting, key initiatives implemented in the first half of 2025 were presented. Among them were ensuring access to beaches, creating a barrier-free route, and promoting adaptive sports, particularly rowing.

"We are not just removing barriers; we are building a new culture of urban space. During this time, we have implemented numerous solutions regarding access to transport and beaches, as well as engaging people with disabilities in management processes. The most important thing is the trust of the community, which inspires us to continue our efforts," said Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

A work plan for the second half of 2025 was also approved.

"We have clear plans for the second half of the year, as each point is backed by a team, deadlines, and responsibilities," said Deputy Head of the Accessibility Council Alexey Morozov.

The meeting concluded with a summary that Odessa continues its course towards expanding the barrier-free space in infrastructure and culture.

"At the inclusive beach at the 11th station of the Great Fountain, over 100 people with various needs relax daily. This proves that our city is becoming comfortable for everyone," emphasized Acting Deputy Mayor Sergey Kotsyuba.
