Closure of the Inclusive Beach Season in Odesa
On September 27 in Odesa, at the inclusive beach on the 11th station of the Great Fountain, the official closure of the wellness season took place.
Since reopening on July 1 after extensive renovations, the beach has welcomed over 25,000 visitors with disabilities and their companions. Additionally, 12 trips were organized for 300 individuals with limited mobility from Mykolaiv. City council member Yuriy Stepanyts noted that Odesa has supported Mykolaiv with drinking water since the first days of the invasion, and now it provides individuals with disabilities the freedom to move and rehabilitate in the sea.
Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, emphasized the city's ambitious plans for the development of inclusive leisure areas. He promised to create a specialized base for veterans to engage in sea rowing.
“Currently, we are implementing three accessible routes in Odesa together with the Council for Accessibility and my advisor Alexey Morozov: the “North-South” route in partnership with the Ministry of Development, a tourist route through the city center, and a wellness route that includes the sea, sun, adaptive sports, and shared leisure,” said Trukhanov.
Throughout the day, many heartfelt words of gratitude were expressed to those who made this special area possible, ensuring its careful maintenance and quality service. Deputy Mayor and veteran Sergey Kotsyuba admitted he would miss the Saturday meetings at the beach with his comrades and eagerly awaits the next season.
In the coming days, conservation measures will be taken to preserve the equipment and prepare for the new wellness season.
