Revitalization of the House on Prince Volodymyr: New Horizons
The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, inspected the restoration efforts at the building located at 134 Prince Volodymyr Street — the site of one of the most tragic events of 2024.
Last year, emergency and stabilization works were carried out, preserving the integrity of apartments in the right section of the outer entrance and allowing for repairs in common areas. The internal heating system was completely modernized, enabling residents of the intact apartments to return home. Meanwhile, residents of the destroyed apartments in the left wing received housing certificates and utilized the eRecovery program.
Based on engineering surveys, a reconstruction project was developed. The protruding remnants of the left part of the entrance were demolished. The exterior wall will be repaired in accordance with current building standards. In addition to the installation of monolithic buttresses, the foundation will be reinforced with a monolithic slab — ensuring the structure's reliability even under challenging conditions and serving as a basis for future work.
“In the left section, intact spaces from the destroyed apartments will be combined to create a maneuverable housing stock. We plan to complete their renovation with support from charitable foundations,” noted Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
As reported by the mayor's advisor on coordinating work with NGOs, Veronika Etnarovych, external and internal doors have already been procured. Charitable organizations have also provided builders with foam blocks for internal renovation works.
