Street Renaming
Pestel Street will now bear the name of Simon Litman, acknowledging his contributions to economic science and marketing. After graduating from the Odesa Commercial School, Litman emerged as a significant marketing theorist following his emigration to the United States, where he introduced marketing courses at universities.
In 1911, he published his work "Trade and Commerce," one of the first textbooks on marketing. Litman lectured at the University of California and the University of Illinois, and his lectures became the foundation for modern business programs in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Litman was the first to define marketing as a distinct discipline that encompasses not just sales but also understanding consumer needs, communication, and trust. His approaches laid the groundwork for the customer-oriented businesses we know today.
