Odesa and Mainz: New Horizons of Partnership
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held an online meeting with the Mayor of Mainz, Mr. Nino Haaze.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the procedure for signing a partnership agreement between the cities.
This decision has already received support from the legislative bodies of both Odesa and Mainz.
Participants also explored avenues for cooperation, particularly in culture and social areas, bioenergy, and the IT sector.
The Mayor of Odesa highlighted the historical contribution of Germans to the rapid development of Odesa in the early 19th century and expressed hope that contemporary efforts could replicate this trend.
«Despite the challenging times, we are moving forward through unity and collaboration,» — noted the Mayor of Odesa.
Since 2022, Mainz has been welcoming refugees from Ukraine and creating conditions for their economic, social, and cultural engagement.
Hennadiy Trukhanov thanked the German people for their incredible support and assistance, and informed his colleague about the latest hostile attacks on Odesa.
«The most terrifying aspect of this war is its aim to destroy the civilian population, culture, and authenticity of Ukraine. We are helping now and are focused on long-term cooperation,» said the Mayor of Mainz.
Mr. Nino Haaze remarked that Mainz is the most dynamic city in Germany, viewing Odesa in the same light. He also expressed confidence that the partnership agreement would foster the development of both countries.
