Woman Attacked in Odessa: Suspect Apprehended
On Heroes of Defense of Odessa Street, an unidentified man attacked a woman in the entrance of an apartment building, snatching a gold chain from her neck and fleeing. The police swiftly identified and apprehended the assailant. It turned out that he exchanged the stolen jewelry for drugs.
The incident occurred on the morning of April 15. A 63-year-old woman was returning home when an unknown man entered the entrance behind her. He cornered her, held a knife to her throat, and took her jewelry.
The police arrived at the scene promptly, bringing in dog handlers, and within hours identified the perpetrator. He was found to be a 33-year-old man with a prior criminal record and no permanent residence. It was discovered that he traded the stolen chain for narcotics. Law enforcement is working to locate the missing piece of jewelry.
"The perpetrator has been detained and placed in a temporary holding facility. He has been formally charged under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa" - the statement reported.
