Advancing Veteran Rehabilitation: Key Meeting at the 'Protez Foundation'
A crucial working meeting was held at the charity organization «Protez Foundation», focusing on pre-prosthetic training. Participants included veterans with prosthetics, as well as officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and medical services.
The meeting began with a demonstration of the work of the prosthetic center «Protez Foundation». Attendees had the opportunity to see firsthand the process of creating and adjusting prosthetics and to learn about the latest rehabilitation technologies.
"Pre-prosthetic training is a critically important stage in the history of our defenders' prosthetics,” noted the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.
Yuri Aroshidze, co-founder of the foundation, emphasized that the waiting list for prosthetics currently exceeds 2000 individuals. Therefore, a major portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation for patients after limb amputations.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their motivation in the rehabilitation of our defenders and the quality of their prosthetics. We want our military to understand that everything is arranged for them here – from pre-prosthetic training to complete recovery,” emphasized Yuri Aroshidze.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the role of social workers in the physical and psychological rehabilitation process and in facilitating veterans' reintegration into civilian life.
Modern approaches to treating chronic pain in servicemen suffering from PTSD were also discussed. Experts shared experiences of using new methodologies that significantly improve patients' quality of life.
«I am extremely happy that nearly 40 of our physical therapy specialists have been trained in the USA, gaining valuable practical experience,» highlighted Inna Yashchuk.
Such meetings contribute to the development of an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation.
