World Autism Awareness Day: Expanding Horizons

Every year on April 2, the world observes a day dedicated to raising awareness about autism, established by the UN in 2007.

This day aims to enhance public understanding of autism while focusing on the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. At the Community Institution 'Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Developmental Disorders,' a roundtable discussion titled 'Children with Special Needs and Their Place in Society' took place.

Participants included representatives from the Odessa City Council, notably the director of the social policy department, as well as social protection experts.

Specialists shared their experiences working with children on the autism spectrum, discussing communication challenges, hydrotherapy, and cognitive skill development in young children.

Additionally, attendees were shown an open music therapy session tailored for children of various ages with ASD.

At the conclusion of the roundtable, participants expressed gratitude to the organizers and suggested hosting an international conference on this topic in Odessa, involving professionals from education, science, and medicine.
