Preparing Urban Greenery for Winter in Odesa
Employees of the municipal enterprise «Miskzelentrest» have begun the task of preparing the city’s greenery for the cold season.
According to the approved plan, this autumn, 1064 young trees will be planted in Odesa - large saplings of deciduous species with root balls to enhance their survival in the urban environment. Specifically, 330 saplings will be planted on streets where stumps have been removed (white acacia, sycamore maple, common ash, Japanese sophora, and western plane tree).
The tree planting will commence approximately at the start of November.
Greenery specialists have also started preparing the greenhouses located in the «Troyanda» section for winter. The greenhouses operate year-round. Currently, they are working on sowing summer flower seeds, gathering firewood, and covering the greenhouses with polyethylene film.
Starting from early November, the enterprise will also begin work on winterizing the automatic irrigation systems. In total, there are about 50 automatic irrigation systems under the management of «Miskzelentrest», located in various neighborhoods of the city, including parks and squares.
