Anniversary Ukrainian Film Festival in Latvia
From October 10 to 12, 2025, Riga hosted the anniversary fifth festival «Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Latvia» — a significant event in cultural diplomacy between Ukraine and Latvia.
The festival was supported by the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and organized by the Charity Fund ChF "Doors", the NGO «International Association for Development and Support of Ukrainian Culture», and the Latvian organization «DijaTi».
This year, the festival gained special attention with the inaugural roundtable discussion «Prospects for the Development of Ukrainian Cinema and Co-production with European Filmmakers», which brought together representatives from the cultural and educational sectors of both countries.
The festival continued with screenings of Ukrainian films presented by the filmmakers themselves.
The head of the board of «Odesa Film Studio» Anna Docheva showcased the film «Why I Am Alive» directed by Vilien Novak, created at Odesa Film Studio, which has already become iconic in the recent history of Ukrainian cinema.
During the festival, Valters Kagainis was awarded the «Legends of Odesa Film Studio» prize for his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema and collaboration with Odesa Film Studio.
Screenings took place at the Ksuns/Kinogalerija cinema and the Ukrainian House in Latvia (Ukrainas māja Latvijā).
