Kickoff of the 2025/2026 Ukrainian Hockey Championship
Recently, the 2025/2026 Ukrainian Hockey Championship kicked off. This season, five teams are competing in the national league, two of which are from Kyiv. The list of participants is as follows:
- HC «Kremenchuk» (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
- HC «Sokil» (Kyiv)
- HC «Kryzhynka-Capitals» (Kyiv)
- HC «Storm» (Odesa)
- HC «Odeshchyna» (Odesa)
This season has seen some changes. Unfortunately, the Kherson team «Dnipro» is not participating this time, but a new team has emerged — HC «Odeshchyna». Interestingly, the Kyiv runner-up team — «Kyiv Capitals» — has entered the Baltic Hockey League with the permission of the UHF, while their farm team «Kryzhynka-Capitals» remains in the Ukrainian Championship, consisting of young players and those who did not make it to the first team.
Kyiv’s «Sokil» played their first match against «Storm» from Odesa, achieving a comeback victory after being down by two goals during the game.
«SOKIL» — «STORM» — 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0)
«KREMENCHUK» — «KRYZHYNKA-CAPITALS» — 6:1 (4:0; 0:1; 2:0)
The next match for «Kryzhynka-Capitals» is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, against «Storm». «Sokil» will face off against «Odeshchyna» the following day.
