Ukraine Fencing Cup: New Champions of the 2025-2026 Season
From October 15 to 20, the Ukraine Fencing Cup took place in Kyiv, marking the first national event of the 2025-2026 season for adults.
The tournament, held at the CSK ZSU sports complex, gathered 345 participants (153 women and 192 men).
The champion of the Ukraine Cup is Alina Komashchuk from Odesa (coaches – Oleksandr Vasyutin, Nikita Stolbunov). In the final, she defeated last year's winner Oleksandra Bondar from Mykolaiv. In the semifinals, Alina triumphed over Daria Hontsova from Cherkasy with a score of 15:9. This is her second victory in the Ukraine Cup.
In the men's competition, Andriy Yahodka (coach – Oleksandr Vasyutin) earned a silver medal. He achieved 10 consecutive wins in the tournament (6 in the pool, 4 in the main bracket), but lost to Kyiv's Oleksiy Statsenko in the final with a score of 5:15. Previously, Andriy had won 8 of the last 10 Ukraine Cups.
