Memorial Tournament for Robert Babayanets in Odesa
From October 10 to 12, 2025, Odesa hosted a national sambo tournament in memory of the renowned coach Robert Babayanets.
About 100 athletes from various regions of Ukraine participated: Odesa, Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv regions.
The tournament featured individual and team competitions for boys born in 2011–2013 and 2014–2016.
In the overall team standings, Odesa claimed the victory, with Kyiv taking second place and Zhytomyr region finishing third.
Team matches in the format of «Wall to Wall» also took place:
- 1st place — team «Tatami» (Odesa);
- 2nd place — team «Fanat» (Chornomorsk);
- 3rd place — team «Tigers» (Odesa);
- 4th place — team «Gorillas» (Kyiv).
This tournament in memory of the distinguished coach has been held annually since 2011.
