National Cross Country Championships Held in Odesa
On October 19, 2024, the III stage of the national cross country championships was held in Victory Park, Odesa. The competition featured 12 age categories for boys, girls, juniors, and youth across distances of 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 km.
More than 60 qualified athletes from different regions of Ukraine, including representatives from Odesa, participated in the event.
On the 1 km distance, the best times were set by Odesa athletes Yelyzaveta Sheremeta (4:29) and Andrii Zasnov (4:55).
The fastest on the 3 km course were Ksenia Danyliuk (19:54) and Viacheslav Balashov (14:00).
Volodymyr Peresunko achieved the best result on the 4 km distance, recording a time of 29:48.
On the 6 km route, Hanna Hilyanchuk took second place, falling short to an athlete from Chernihiv region, while Roman Stoyanov claimed first place in the 8 km race with a time of 30:19.
Based on the results from the four stages and the finals, the national team of Ukraine will be formed to compete in the European Championship scheduled for December 8 in Turkey.
This event was organized by the Athletics Federation of Ukraine in collaboration with the SEASIDE RUNNERS ODS civic organization, with support from the Odesa City Council.
