Boxing Championship for Youth and Juniors in Odessa
The Odessa regional boxing championship for juniors (2011-2012) and youth (2007-2008) took place from October 9 to 12, 2024.
A total of 101 athletes participated in the junior competitions, while 61 athletes competed in the youth category from various districts of the region and the city of Odessa.
Representing Odessa were students from the Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports Schools No. 5 and No. 8, which currently train 60 and 54 athletes respectively.
From SDYUSSH No. 8, 10 students participated in the tournament, 9 of whom won medals of various grades.
In the junior competitions, first place was taken by Oleksandr Shchupak (80 kg), while second places were awarded to Samih Abbasov (48 kg) and Yaroslav Kuklev (50 kg), and third places went to Mykhailo Averin (57 kg), Yaroslav Zukhin (53 kg), and Artem Farik (38 kg).
In the youth category, the champion was Hennadii Dmytrenko (63.5 kg), with silver medalists being Ivan Karpov (54 kg) and Artur Prodan (67 kg).
From SDYUSSH No. 5, 7 athletes participated, 6 of whom also earned medals.
The champion among girls was Tamara Didenko (75 kg), with silver medalists including Davyd Tyukavkin (36 kg) in the junior category and Andrii Surmai (63.5 kg) among the youth. Bronze medals in the junior category were awarded to Daniil Steshenko (60 kg), Dmytro Budihai (75 kg), and Matviy Makhonko (66 kg).
The athletes were prepared by coaches: Volodymyr Osipchuk, Ihor Hordiienko, and Dmytro Boboshko (SDYUSSH No. 8), Yuri Tsuyun and Volodymyr Zhelezko (SDYUSSH No. 5).

This year, a student of SDYUSSH No. 8 Ilya Rybin won a silver medal at the Ukrainian championship for juniors of 2010-2011 and received an invitation to the youth national team of Ukraine. Additionally, this year a student of SDYUSSH No. 5 Rashad Rasulov became the champion of Ukraine in boxing among students, and a student of SDYUSSH No. 8 Imran Hadzhiev won a silver medal at this tournament.
