New Photography Exhibition: War and Its Impact
Today, December 6, a new exhibition highlighting the consequences of war through photography has opened at the Odesa National Art Museum.
This year, in the «Open Format» category, the winning series is titled «War Through a Personal Lens» by Ukrainian photographer Yulia Kocherova.
Also reaching the finals was Johanna Maria Fritz's project «Kakhovka Dam: Flood Effects», created during the evacuation of civilians during the flood.
The exhibition tour in Ukraine is organized by the Odesa Photo Days Festival. The display features 129 photographs documenting war, protests, migration and climate crises, and other significant events of 2023. Finalists were chosen from over 61,000 submissions by 3,851 participants from 130 countries.
The exhibition in Ukraine is made possible by the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine. Kyiv was the first city to host the exhibition, where 1,000 visitors attended from late October to mid-November.
The exhibition will showcase works from each of the 31 regional winners from 24 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Myanmar, Palestine, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States, and Venezuela.
The exhibition will run from December 6, 2024, to January 12, 2025.

Odesa Photo Days is an international festival of contemporary photography established in 2015 in response to the war in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. Since February 24, 2022, the festival has not taken place, but the team continues to work with Ukrainian photographers and the international community to disseminate information about the war in Ukraine.
