Accessible Tourism in Odesa: New Opportunities
Today, December 5, 2024, a conference titled «Accessible Tourism for Everyone» took place in Odesa.
The primary goal of this event is to unite the efforts of local authorities and businesses to enhance the barrier-free environment within the tourism sector.
This topic has been recognized as a priority issue by the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine for 2024.
Despite the challenges posed by wartime, Odesa continues to welcome both domestic and international tourists, making it crucial to focus on infrastructure accessibility and inclusivity in tourism.
The conference brought together individuals with disabilities, government representatives, and business leaders to discuss the accessibility of cultural and tourist sites, as well as hospitality establishments. Participants also addressed medical tourism issues.
«We are creating conditions that allow every resident and guest of the city to move freely, receive necessary services, and participate in social life. Hotels, restaurants, museums, theaters, and transport must all be accessible to people with disabilities,» said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Additionally, discussions included the current state of affairs, future plans, grant programs, and the involvement of businesses in developing a barrier-free environment in Odesa.
