New Year Celebrations in Odesa: Preparations Underway
In Odesa, preparations for the New Year and Christmas festivities are in full swing. Yesterday, the installation of the main Christmas tree began on Deribasivska Street.
This tree stands 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. As tradition dictates, it will be topped with a Christmas star. This year, the main Christmas tree will be adorned with elements of traditional Ukrainian patterns and blue-and-yellow ribbons.
The grand opening is scheduled for December 6, coinciding with St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, we will host the opening of the main Christmas tree and a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture. Guests will enjoy performances by the Odesa Municipal Band and talented children from local creative institutions. Festive events will also take place at various municipal venues, including the zoo», - noted Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Department of Culture and International Cooperation.
Due to martial law and curfew restrictions, mass street celebrations are not planned for New Year's Eve.
