New Exhibition by Inna Rusina in Odesa Museum

On April 26, the Odesa Municipal Museum of Personal Collections will host the opening of the exhibition titled “Revival and Inspiration” by artist-restorer Inna Rusina. The exhibition will showcase the multifaceted talent of the artist who combines high professionalism in art restoration with her unique artistic vision.

This information was provided by the Odesa Municipal Museum of Personal Collections.

Inna Arkadievna Rusina was instrumental in establishing the Odesa branch of the National Scientific Restoration Center of Ukraine and has been working there since 1987. For her significant contributions to the development of this important center, she was awarded the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree in 2008.

The artist has been participating in exhibitions since 1979 and has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1990. Inna Rusina has showcased her works in international, national, and regional art exhibitions. Her artworks are kept in the Odesa National Art Museum, Odesa Museum of History and Local Lore, Kirovohrad Regional Museum of Arts, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Local History Museum, as well as in private collections and galleries around the world.

The exhibition will be presented in two halls:

Hall “Revival”

The exhibit includes six works from the museum’s collection that underwent restoration from 1992 to 2023 under the guidance of Inna Rusina. Each exhibit is accompanied by informational stands featuring photographs and annotations that detail the condition of the work prior to restoration, the stages of the process, and the final result.

Today, amid martial law in Ukraine, the role of restoration centers is especially significant. Inna Rusina emphasizes that in addition to planned work, specialists are engaged in inspecting museum collections, evacuating, and preserving artworks.

Exhibits must be carefully and properly packaged to maintain the right microclimate, — she stresses.

According to her, unlike previous decades, today this field employs highly qualified personnel.

Restorers from Kharkiv have been collaborating with our center for over ten years. Previously, I also conducted internships for many artists who wished to become restorers. However, not all artists can be restorers, but restorers can be artists, — Rusina adds with a smile.

Hall “Inspiration”

In this section of the exhibition, visitors can familiarize themselves with the picturesque works of Inna Rusina.

Fifteen works in the genres of still life, portrait, and landscape reflect her unique style developed over her years of creativity.

The artist admits that she was particularly influenced by Sandro Botticelli, whose works she has seen twice at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

Paintings need to be seen in person. The impressions they leave cannot be conveyed in words, — shares Inna Rusina.
