Celebrating Japanese Culture in Odessa: A Friendship Festival
Odessa is hosting Japanese Culture Days to commemorate 60 years of friendship with Yokohama, Japan.
During this event, numerous artistic and educational activities will take place under the theme 'Japan – the Land of the Rising Sun'. Participants will have the opportunity to explore Japanese traditions through discussions, art lessons, workshops, exhibitions, and screenings of animations and tea ceremonies.
The main events will kick off on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Lane, 1a).
Visitors will have the chance to discover the richness of Japanese culture as well as the development of friendly relations between our cities.
“Our relationship with Yokohama is a story of how, despite distance and differences in language and traditions, cities can be close at heart,” said Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled 'Mysterious Japan through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists' will be held in the hall of the Odessa City Hall (Birzha Square, 1).
This event is organized with the support of the Faculty of Arts and Graphics of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky and the Municipal Art Gallery.
