Celebrating Elena Shevchenko: A Night of Jazz and More
On November 8, 2024, the International Cultural Center UNION held a celebratory evening for Elena Shevchenko, a prominent host of international jazz competitions and festivals, titled «Celebrating Jazz and More».
For her many years of dedicated work and significant contribution to cultural development, Elena Shevchenko was honored with a valuable gift from the Mayor of Odessa and a certificate of appreciation from the Department of Culture and International Cooperation of the Odessa City Council.
A musicologist, teacher at the pop music department of the arts college, expert in the history of music and jazz, and founder of the jazz club and various projects, she is rightly referred to as «Lady Jazz».
During the creative evening, her students and colleagues presented unique jazz performances, featuring young musicians from Arts Schools No. 1, 3, and 4.
The event concluded with a traditional jam session that brought everyone together.
