Educational Discussion on Babyn Yar at Odesa Museum

At the Odesa Museum of Genocide «Territory of Memory», supported by the Odesa Center for Professional Development of Educators, a panel discussion took place titled "Babi Yar – Tragedy of the Second World War".

The event, aimed at social studies teachers, focused on important issues surrounding Holocaust education and the preservation of historical memory in Odesa.

The discussion was opened by the director of the National Historical and Cultural Preserve «Babyn Yar», Roza Tapanova, who emphasized the necessity of studying the tragedy of Babyn Yar for contemporary Ukraine.

Pavlo Kozlenko, a PhD in Philosophy and head of the NGO «Odesa Center for Holocaust Studies», highlighted the crucial role of teachers in shaping the historical consciousness of youth.

The discussion addressed practical aspects of working with sensitive historical topics. Participants learned about the experiences of Odesa educators in implementing museum pedagogy.

Teachers from Odesa Lyceums No. 56, 62, and the Law Lyceum shared their successful practices in working with students on preserving the memory of World War II victims.

Participants actively exchanged experiences and received advice on integrating Holocaust themes into the educational process during wartime.
