New Initiative for IT Training: ‘Career Start in Technology’
A new initiative has been launched in Ukraine aimed at training IT specialists, titled «Career Start in Technology».
This program has been approved by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers under resolution No. 737 dated June 24, 2022, which outlines the implementation procedure for training programs in the field of information technology «Career Start in Technology».
Grant conditions – upon completion of training, individuals are required to secure employment in their new qualification within 30 calendar days under the following conditions:
- signing an employment or gig contract;
- entering into a civil law contract for work performed;
- registering as an individual entrepreneur or engaging in independent professional activities.
Who is the ‘Career Start in Technology’ program aimed at?
The program is designed for Ukrainian citizens (points 5, 9 of the Procedure) who:
- are on leave;
- have had their employment contract suspended;
- have been granted unpaid leave without a fixed term;
- are internally displaced persons of working age;
- registered unemployed individuals eligible for social training services.
Who cannot participate in the ‘Career Start in Technology’ program?
The program does not apply to individuals (point 5 of the Procedure) who:
- lack vocational or higher education;
- have less than 18 months of work experience;
- have specialized in IT or have experience in the industry.
How to obtain a grant for IT training?
The training certificate is issued electronically via the "Diia Portal" after document review by the Employment Center. To obtain it, applicants must submit:
- an application;
- a resume;
- confirmation of the educational institution's readiness to train;
- a copy of the employment record or relevant data from the registry;
- a copy of the educational document (if available);
- proof of your leave or employment contract suspension (if applicable).
The certificate is valid for 10 working days from the date of issue, during which the individual must sign a contract with the educational institution.
The list of educational institutions and programs will be approved by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and this information will be published on the Employment Centers' websites.
The main goal of the experiment is to ensure citizens' right to work and promote employment.
