Celebrating Educators in Ukraine: Recognition and Achievements

Every year, the first Sunday of October is dedicated to celebrating Teachers' Day in Ukraine.

Teachers in Odessa, despite the challenges of wartime, diligently fulfill their responsibilities, equipping students with knowledge essential for the country's development.

On the eve of the professional holiday, a ceremonial event was held at the International Cultural Center UNION to honor and award the educators of Odessa.

The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, warmly congratulated the educators and acknowledged those who received the honorary title of «Best Educational Worker of Odessa». This year, 12 educators received this recognition, and starting from October 1, 2024, they will receive a municipal supplement equivalent to 50% of the minimum wage.

"Despite all the difficulties, you continue to bring the light of knowledge to our children. None of us could have imagined working under such conditions. You teach children how to behave during alarms, and your example of courage is the best lesson for them," said the mayor.

To commemorate the professional holiday, honorary awards were presented to the educators. The honorary title of «Best Educational Worker of Odessa» was awarded to:

- Berestensko Alina Hennadiivna, mathematics teacher;

- Budey Olena Lvivna, mathematics teacher;

- Budnik Tetiana Yevhenivna, methodologist educator;

- Koval Rusana Mykolaivna, English teacher;

- Kolesnik Olena Oleksandrivna, educator;

- Kolesnichenko Nadiia Heorhiivna, educator;

- Lomachenko Natalia Oleksiivna, geography teacher;

- Ovadyuk Iryna Volodymyrivna, practical psychologist;

- Ortynii Yana Valentynivna, French language teacher;

- Prokopenko Liudmyla Pavlivna, director of extracurricular education;

- Sordiya Olena Anatoliyivna, Ukrainian language and literature teacher;

- Trubnikov Maksym Valeriyovych, arts teacher.

During the ceremony, musical greetings were performed by colleagues. The children of the teachers also congratulated their parents, showing how they experience learning together.

In conclusion, the results of the charity campaign “Coffee with Education” were summarized, with 2 million 129 thousand hryvnias raised for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
