New Park Project in Odesa: Azerbaijani Diaspora's Initiative
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, met with Aliyev Ayaz Ali Ogly from the public organization «Birlik».
During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the Azerbaijani park project located near the 4th station of the Great Fountain. This green area has been officially recognized since 2013, but its development has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war.
The Azerbaijani community in Odesa, which numbers over 30,000 individuals, has presented a new concept for the park that includes a recreational area and a memorial for Azerbaijanis who lost their lives in the war. The funding for this project is expected to come from the community itself.
«We aim to collaborate with our partners, as Odesa has a tradition of parks created by friends of our city. This is how the Istanbul Park and Greek Park came to be, and now we have the Azerbaijani park», stated Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The park is set to occupy over 2 hectares and will be located next to the Odesa racetrack.
