SBU Operation: 15 Arrested for Illegal Arms Trade
In the last 24 hours, the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, conducted an operation that uncovered illegal arms sales in four regions of the country, resulting in the arrest of 15 individuals.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
During the operation, law enforcement apprehended 15 suspects attempting to sell combat weapons. Among the items seized were Russian Kalashnikov rifles with a grenade launcher, as well as a stockpile of fragmentation grenades and explosives.
In Odesa, one suspect was caught red-handed trying to sell homemade explosive devices and military grenades. Approximately 1 kg of TNT and several grenades were confiscated from him.
In Kyiv region, a 31-year-old local man and four associates were arrested for trafficking trophy weapons taken from former combat zones in the east.
Additionally, two criminal groups attempting to sell a Kalashnikov machine gun and a RPG-7V grenade launcher with ammunition were neutralized in the Kyiv area.
In Chernihiv, police arrested three members of a criminal gang who were seeking clients for the sale of automatic weapons and explosives.
In Lutsk, a local resident was caught while trying to sell military grenades. He intended to cover his tracks by demanding payment through anonymous payment systems. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detained under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for illegal handling of firearms and explosives.
