Ukrposhta to Launch New App with Enhanced Features

The state postal operator "Ukrposhta" plans to relaunch its mobile app with enhanced features by the end of June this year.

As stated by CEO Igor Smilyansky in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, the new app is one of the main priorities for the company for 2025.

"We plan to launch the app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not only track packages — we will also add features for interaction with customs, approximate delivery date displays, the ability to confirm documents, and view shipment and payment history", — noted the head of Ukrposhta.

It is known that the launch of the new Ukrposhta app was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed for several reasons. The old app has low ratings in the App Store and Google Play Market. One of its major issues is the lack of notifications about package status. The new app is expected to allow users to redirect packages to another branch, a feature that currently requires phone calls or visits to post offices.

Additionally, Igor Smilyansky reported that about 1 billion UAH has been invested in automation in 2024. "This amount includes guarantees for five years. Moreover, all of this is our own funding", — said the CEO of the postal operator.

According to him, now over 90% of packages arrive on time. "I measure the effect of automation by the feedback on Facebook and TikTok. Previously, under each of my posts, there were dozens or even hundreds of comments about how poorly Ukrposhta delivers. In the last two months, there have been almost none. For me, this is the most honest indicator, as it cannot be faked. We have launched full automation and are currently refining the IT system so that the customer can see the estimated delivery date at the time of dispatch", — concluded Igor Smilyansky.

Recall that in February 2025, Ukrposhta fully automated its package sorting. In January 2025, the government transferred shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, with subsequent transfer to Ukrposhta. This allows the postal operator to have its own banking institution. Previously, Igor Smilyansky stated that after creating its own bank, Ukrposhta's capitalization would increase, enabling it to build an Amazon-like platform in the Ukrainian format. It is also worth noting that last year, Ukrposhta reported a revenue of 12.98 billion UAH, which is an 8% increase from nearly 12 billion in 2023. However, taking into account the annual inflation of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a loss — with a deficit of 387 million UAH by the end of 2024.
