Dangerous Trends: How to Prevent Tragedy
Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has reported 8 incidents of train surfing, resulting in injuries to 9 children. For a few seconds of video or thrill, teenagers put their lives at risk.
It’s crucial to remember:
Electrical currents, falls, or collisions with obstacles rarely offer a second chance.
Why is train surfing not just uncool, but deadly?
Voltage can reach up to 27,000 volts, and even without touching the wires, a shock can be instantaneous.
A fall from a height - one sudden movement, and life can change forever.
Collisions with obstacles such as bridges or tunnels at speeds of 60-100 km/h can be fatal.
What should you do if you see someone on a train or hanging off a transport?
- Notify the station attendant or railway staff.
- Call the Ukrainian Railways hotline: 0 800 503 111 (free).
- Contact the National Police (102) or the State Emergency Service (101).
- Remember the location of the incident for accurate reporting.
Parents, your attentiveness is key to your children's safety!
Talk to teenagers about the dangers of train surfing.
Monitor their social media content - extreme videos may encourage risky behavior.
Pay attention to new interests - a sudden obsession with trains or extreme videos could be a warning sign.
TEENS, THINK ABOUT IT!
Likes on social media mean nothing if you gamble with your life.
If friends suggest train surfing - say "no"!
If you see someone planning a dangerous stunt, tell an adult or call 102. Your awareness could save a life!
