Odesa Implements New Barrier-Free Routes within the National Program
Odessa is actively developing new routes that embrace barrier-free principles. On August 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved an important resolution that outlines the rules for designing and establishing barrier-free transport routes.
This document improves process organization and opens up opportunities for expanding the initiative throughout Ukraine. Currently, 15 communities are participating in the Ministry of Development's pilot project named 'Movement Without Barriers.' The development of routes is carried out by local authorities in collaboration with architects, facility managers, and public organizations.
The coordination of this process is managed by the Ministry of Development. Odessa consistently ranks among the leaders in implementing these measures.
During an online meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Kubela, the progress of the project in Odessa was discussed, including updates to the barrier-free route signage and the alignment of project documentation for its first phase.
“The city is steadily working towards implementing modern barrier-free solutions that make Odessa more accessible to everyone,” emphasized Acting Deputy Mayor of Odessa Serhiy Kotsyuba.
